Steven "Stokey" "Craig" Montano, 57, of Los Lunas, New Mexico, passed away on August 1, 2025. Born November 21, 1967, in Tucumcari, Steve was the beloved son of Juan Montano and the late Jean Montano. A dedicated family man, he was a loving father to Stephen Montano and Ericka Walker, a cherished brother to Gabriel Montano and Raquel Montano, and a loyal friend to many.
Steve's legacy is rooted in his more than 20 years of honorable military service in both the Army and Navy. His commitment to service was matched only by the joy he brought to those around him. Known for his big heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness, Steve made every room brighter, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Known to friends and family as "Stokey" or "Craig," Steve cheered on his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and enjoyed countless hours working on—and admiring—cars. His warmth, humor, and generosity touched many lives; he was the friend who'd show up when you needed a hand or a good laugh.
Steve is preceded in passing by his mother; and brother, Johnny "Googie" David Montano.
He is survived by his children, his father Juan, his brother Gabriel, his sister Raquel, and many dear friends. He will be remembered always for his big heart, his love for family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
