William Taylor, age 78, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico, passed away on June 4, 2025, after a short illness. He was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and sealed to his family in the Salt Lake, UT temple.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Eggemeyer (Steibel); and his father, Russell Eggemeyer.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma Eva Taylor (Godfrey) of Los Lunas NM; three sisters, Pearl Moreland of TX. Betty O'Neal of Albuquerque, NM, and Nancy Knight of Albuquerque, NM; two Children, Jess Sanders and his wife Stella of Los Lunas, NM, and Wanda Ottoway of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Crystal Ottoway of Phoenix, AZ, Harmony Ottoway, of Allen, TX, Liberty Ottoway, of Phoenix, AZ, Joel Vazquez, of Los Lunas, NM, and Emerald Vazquez, Los Lunas, NM; as well as Brother and sister- in -laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Billy (William) was born on March 2, 1947 in Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois. His family moved to the Grants, NM area in the early 1960's where his father worked in the Uranium mines, later settling in Albuquerque. In his early 20's he had a passion for amateur race car driving, where he raced and was competitive at Speedway Park in Albuquerque. At Speedway Park he met his soon to be wife Thelma (Eva) they were happily married for 54 years.
Billy was a hard worker and worked up to manager at Midas Muffler Shop. He later opened his own business, Ace Custom Exhaust and Muffler Shop in Albuquerque in 1976, later relocating the business and his home to Los Lunas, NM. Billy and his son Jess ran this business for 33 years before his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed raising goats and loved to go camping and fishing with his family, and watching all kinds of sports. He often took his family on vacations to family reunions and to the great outdoors. He was a very hard-working, caring, responsible, and patient man. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Services for William will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025. A visitation will take place at 10:00 am at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM.
